"I should have retired from ministry years ago instead of holding on too long."
How it sounds in your head: I see younger leaders frustrated with me. I'm slowing things down. Maybe I held onto my position out of pride instead of wisdom. Did I become the obstacle I used to navigate around?
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
-- 2 Timothy 4:7Religious culture creates shame around aging instead of celebrating the finishing well of a faithful life.
You see impatience in younger eyes. Your body can't keep the pace. Decisions are being made around you instead of with you, and it feels like you stayed too long.
At 85 years old, Caleb declared, 'I am as strong today as I was 40 years ago. Give me this mountain!' He didn't apologize for his age or step aside in shame. He claimed his inheritance and conquered giants in his eighties.
I REFUSE the lie that I held on too long. IT IS WRITTEN that I have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Caleb at 85 said 'Give me this mountain!' and conquered giants. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 1:6 that He who began a good work in me will complete it. My timing doesn't have to be perfect—His faithfulness IS. The BARAK blessing doesn't shame me for aging. I finished MY race, and Father is proud.
Father is saying, 'Daughter, stop letting the enemy rewrite your story. You didn't overstay—you were FAITHFUL to the end of YOUR assignment. The transition is Mine to manage. You ran with endurance. Well done. Now rest.'
