"I should have known better—the warning signs were there and I ignored them."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone told you to diversify. The experts warned about the bubble. You saw the red flags and invested anyway. This isn't bad luck—this is consequences of willful stupidity. You deserve this loss.
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:18-19Performance-based identity says your value depends on always making correct decisions. Self-condemnation becomes agreement with the accuser of the brethren.
There actually were warning signs you ignored, people actually did caution you, and you actually made the choice despite wisdom offered. The hindsight is painfully clear.
Peter denied Jesus three times despite being explicitly warned it would happen, then went back to fishing in shame and failure. Jesus cooked him breakfast, restored him fully, and made him the leader of the church—no probation, no punishment, just 'feed My sheep.'
I REFUSE the lie that I should have known better and deserve permanent consequences. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 43:18-19 to not remember former things because God is doing a NEW THING NOW. I am not defined by missed warning signs or wrong decisions. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL THINGS work together for good to those who love God—even my mistakes are being rewritten into testimony. Peter denied Jesus three times and became the rock. The prodigal ignored all wisdom and got a party. I am righteous by GIFT, not by perfect discernment. The Father who makes roads in wilderness and rivers in desert doesn't need my flawless track record to create breakthrough.
The Father isn't reviewing footage of all the warning signs you missed so He can say 'I told you so.' He's already working the NEW THING He mentioned in Isaiah 43, and your wrong turn is being transformed into a testimony that will fund someone else's freedom.
