"I can't tithe anymore because I need every dollar to recover. God will understand."
How it sounds in your head: I know I'm supposed to give, but I literally can't afford it right now. Once I get back on my feet, I'll start again. Surely God doesn't expect me to tithe when I'm in debt.
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes."
-- Malachi 3:10-11Fear and scarcity mindset presenting itself as practical wisdom, cutting off covenant flow.
The math genuinely doesn't work—her expenses exceed income and tithing feels irresponsible. It seems like God would want her to be practical right now.
She had only enough flour and oil for ONE last meal before starvation. Elijah asked her to make him bread FIRST from that last bit. She gave when it made no practical sense, and her flour and oil never ran out throughout the famine.
I REFUSE the lie that I can't afford to tithe right now. IT IS WRITTEN to try God in this and He will open heaven's windows and REBUKE THE DEVOURER. Tithing doesn't deplete me; it activates covenant protection over my finances. IT IS WRITTEN to give and it shall be given back good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. The widow gave her last and never ran out. My tithe is not an expense; it's a seed for multiplication. I don't tithe from surplus; I tithe in faith, and God proves Himself faithful. The devourer is REBUKED when I honor covenant.
The Father isn't demanding your tithe to take from you—He's inviting you to try Him so He can REBUKE THE DEVOURER eating your finances. The widow's oil never ran out when she gave first; He wants to multiply what you have.
