"The market crash means God is judging our family for hidden sin."
How it sounds in your head: Something must be wrong spiritually. Maybe my dad did something. Maybe I did something. God doesn't let this happen to families who are right with Him. We're being exposed and punished.
"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
-- John 9:3Religious: Job's friends theology—suffering always equals specific sin, God as cosmic policeman punishing hidden wrongs through circumstances.
Pastors preach about reaping what you sow. The timing feels deliberate, like divine exposure. She's searching her conscience for what could have triggered God's judgment.
Disciples assumed his blindness was punishment for sin. Jesus said neither he nor his parents sinned—this was setup for God's glory. Then Jesus healed him instantly with mud and spit.
I REFUSE the lie that financial loss means God is judging hidden sin. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—NONE means NONE. The man born blind wasn't being punished; God was setting up breakthrough. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:13-14 that God 'forgave you ALL trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us.' ALL means ALL—hidden and known. The BARAK blessing protected JUDAH who slept with his daughter-in-law and JACOB'S SONS who murdered a city—the blessing operates by COVENANT, not behavior. I am under the BLOOD, not under investigation. God's not punishing my family; He's preparing breakthrough that will reveal His glory.
Your Father isn't scouring your family's life for hidden sins to punish. He's running toward you with the same delight He had when the BLOOD covered every sin you've committed or will commit—the cross was thorough, and judgment is NOT on the table.
