"I should have accepted my limitations and stopped hoping for more."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I was wrong to keep asking for healing. Maybe contentment means giving up hope. Paul accepted his thorn. Maybe I'm being rebellious by still wanting wholeness. Good Christians just accept what God allows.
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."
-- Matthew 7:7-8Religious teaching confuses resignation with contentment, making hope feel like rebellion and desire for healing seem like faithlessness.
After 90+ years of unanswered prayers for healing, hope feels foolish. Religion says 'be content in all circumstances,' which she interprets as 'stop wanting different.'
Blind beggar who REFUSED to be quiet when religious people told him to shut up. He cried out LOUDER 'Jesus, Son of David, have MERCY on me!' Jesus stopped, called him over, and IMMEDIATELY restored his sight. Persistence, not resignation, brought breakthrough.
I REFUSE the lie that hope is rebellion. IT IS WRITTEN: Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened. Jesus COMMANDS persistent asking. Contentment is trusting God's GOODNESS, not abandoning desire for His promises. IT IS WRITTEN that the fervent prayer of the righteous avails MUCH. Like Bartimaeus who shouted LOUDER when told to be quiet, I keep crying out for mercy, healing, wholeness. The BARAK blessing is MINE—health, provision, abundant life. I do NOT resign to the curse Jesus REDEEMED me from. I rest in His goodness while REACHING for His promises. Hope is FAITH.
The Father who tells you to ask, seek, knock is NEVER offended by your continued hope. Like the persistent widow whose boldness PLEASED the judge, your refusal to give up DELIGHTS Him. The prodigal's father was WATCHING for his return—hope met with RUNNING EMBRACE.
