"I should focus on being a good witness in my suffering rather than demanding healing."
How it sounds in your head: People are watching how I handle this. My unsaved neighbors, my kids, my coworkers. If I complain or desperately seek healing, what does that say about my faith? Maybe the real testimony is graceful endurance. Acceptance with a smile honors God more than demanding miracles.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religion making sickness into a missional tool, turning God's daughters into poster children for 'suffering well' instead of healed demonstrations of His power.
She's read 'Suffering and the Sovereignty of God' and 'Don't Waste Your Cancer' books, heard sermons on Paul's thorn being God's no. Christian culture applauds the martyr who suffers beautifully more than the believer who declares healing. Being a 'good witness' has always meant not making waves, not being 'that charismatic,' not embarrassing Jesus with desperation.
Bartimaeus was a blind beggar shouting 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!' People told him to be QUIET, to stop making a scene, to suffer with dignity. He shouted LOUDER. Jesus stopped, called him, and said 'What do you want?' Bartimaeus said 'I want to SEE.' Jesus healed him IMMEDIATELY. The witness was the healed blind man following Jesus, not the quiet blind man enduring gracefully.
I REFUSE the lie that suffering gracefully is a better witness than getting healed. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus went about HEALING ALL who were oppressed by the devil—the healing WAS the witness, not the endurance. Bartimaeus made a scene demanding healing and Jesus stopped for him—his testimony was restoration, not resignation. IT IS WRITTEN that God uses the weak to confound the wise, but weak doesn't mean sick. My healing will glorify God more than my sickness. The BARAK covenant blessing makes me the HEAD, not the tail—sickness puts me under, healing puts me over. I will shout for mercy like Bartimaeus. I will demand what Jesus died to give me. That's my witness.
Your Father is not asking you to die a beautiful death to impress your neighbors. While you're trying to be a 'good witness' in sickness, He's saying 'Let Me show them resurrection power through you—let Me make you the healed demonstration that I am still the God who DOES NOT CHANGE, that My arm is not too short to save.' The witness is the miracle.
