"I caused this disease through my sin or bad choices."
How it sounds in your head: I smoked. I drank. I slept around. I didn't take care of myself. This is karma. This is what I deserve. God's punishing me for what I did. I brought this on myself.
"Jesus answered, Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him."
-- John 9:3Religion/Enemy: Sickness positioned as divine punishment for sin, weaponizing guilt into hopelessness.
There's often a logical connection between choices and consequences. Religious voices reinforce that God disciplines through suffering. Guilt creates agreement with the lie.
This woman was ceremonially UNCLEAN for twelve years—religiously isolated, financially bankrupt from seeking cures. One touch of Jesus' garment and she was IMMEDIATELY healed. Jesus didn't ask about her sin, her worthiness, or her religious status—He called her DAUGHTER and said her faith made her whole. Instant healing for the 'unclean.'
I REFUSE the lie that my sickness is punishment for my sin. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned'—sickness is NOT divine punishment. Jesus took ALL my punishment at the cross—past, present, and future sins. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The curse of sickness was BROKEN when Jesus became a curse for me. My past choices don't disqualify me from healing—the BLOOD qualifies me. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, already finished. I am under GRACE, not karma. I am under the BARAK blessing, not the curse. My body is being RESTORED, not punished.
The Father isn't punishing you—He's running toward you like the prodigal's father, refusing to even hear your confession of unworthiness, putting the robe of righteousness on you while you still smell like your past. He's throwing a HEALING party, not a guilt trip.
