"I need to apologize for taking up space and requiring attention from others."
How it sounds in your head: You find yourself constantly saying 'sorry for bothering you' or 'I know you're busy.' You minimize your presence in meetings, conversations, even in your own home. Taking up space feels selfish, requiring attention feels narcissistic.
"The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Enemy + childhood messaging that your presence was an inconvenience or burden.
Growing up, you learned that being quiet and small kept the peace. Now at work, you preface every request with apologies. At home, you feel guilty for having needs. You've internalized that your existence requires justification.
Mephibosheth called himself a 'dead dog,' unworthy of attention, apologizing for his existence. King David didn't agree—he gave him a PERMANENT seat at the king's table, restored ALL his land, and commanded servants to work FOR him. No apologies needed.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to apologize for my existence or minimize my presence. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord REJOICES over me with singing—my presence brings Him gladness, not burden. I am not an inconvenience; I am a SON with full access to the Father. IT IS WRITTEN that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, and heavenly seats don't require apologies. I walk in the BARAK blessing—the same covenant that gave Mephibosheth a permanent seat at the king's table without apology. I take up space BOLDLY because the Father made room for me at His table before the foundation of the world.
The Father didn't wait for you to apologize your way into the family. While you were rehearsing 'make me a hired servant,' He was already putting the ring on your finger and commanding the feast. Your presence at His table isn't TOLERATED—it's CELEBRATED.
