"I need to accept 'my place' and not dream too big or want too much"
How it sounds in your head: Adults keep saying 'be realistic' and 'know your limits.' Maybe they're right. Maybe dreaming about a better life is just setting myself up for disappointment. Maybe I should just accept that life for people like me looks a certain way and that's okay.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religion and world system promote false humility and contentment to suppress faith for God's abundant promises.
Well-meaning adults, wanting to protect him from disappointment, tell him to 'be practical' and 'manage expectations.' Their caution feels like wisdom, creating guilt for wanting more.
God told Solomon 'Ask what you want Me to give you.' Solomon asked for wisdom. God gave him wisdom AND riches AND honor AND long life—EVERYTHING Solomon didn't even ask for—because when you seek God first, He throws in the 'too much' as a bonus, INSTANTLY granting more than requested.
I REFUSE the lie that I should dream small or accept limits. IT IS WRITTEN: God does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all I ask or think. My dreams aren't too big—they're probably too SMALL. IT IS WRITTEN: with God nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). The BARAK blessing isn't about getting by or 'knowing my place.' Abraham was promised descendants like STARS. Israel left Egypt with GOLD. Solomon got wisdom AND wealth AND honor—more than he asked. God doesn't give me limits. He gives me ABUNDANCE. I am not settling for less. I am expecting MORE—because that's who my Father IS. He's the God of the IMPOSSIBLE, and my covenant with Him has no ceiling.
Your Father isn't telling you to lower your expectations. He's whispering 'Think BIGGER' because what He's prepared for you exceeds what you've dared to imagine, running toward you with blessings you haven't even thought to ask for, delighting in shocking you with His extravagant goodness.
