"I mocked God when I was younger, so He's punishing me now with this suffering."
How it sounds in your head: I was an atheist who laughed at Christians. I blasphemed deliberately. Now I'm sick, and I know it's because God is paying me back for those years. This is my punishment. I deserve this.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."

The timing of your suffering seems connected to your past rebellion, and religious voices told you that 'you reap what you sow' means punishment. Every symptom feels like divine retribution you earned.
Saul didn't just mock Christians—he MURDERED them, dragged them from homes, voted for their execution, and breathed threats. Jesus appeared to him and said 'I have CHOSEN you' to preach My name. No punishment. No payback. Instant commissioning. Paul's later sufferings were persecution for the gospel, not punishment for his past. Grace, not karma.
I REFUSE the lie that my suffering is punishment for mocking God. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are NEW every morning—not after I've paid, but NOW. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ, and God is not in the revenge business. Paul MURDERED Christians and Jesus said 'I've chosen you'—instant grace, zero punishment. My Father is not punishing me with sickness. Sickness comes from living in a fallen world, not from God's payback plan. I stand under the BARAK blessing where even murderers like Moses, David, and Paul were protected and blessed. I am healed by His stripes. I receive His NEW mercies this morning.
Your Father isn't holding your atheist years against you or using sickness as payback—He's extending the same grace He extended to Paul, who murdered His people. His mercies are brand new this morning, and He's inviting you to receive healing, not as reward but as gift.
