"I committed adultery and destroyed my family. God may forgive me but He'll never use me or bless me again."
How it sounds in your head: I broke covenant. I shattered my marriage. My kids grew up in a broken home because of my sin. Yes, I'm forgiven, but I'm disqualified from blessing. I'll limp through eternity saved but second-class. The best is behind me.
"Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king."
-- Rahab - Matthew 1:5Source: religious teaching that separates forgiveness from restoration, creating a two-tiered Christianity where some are 'damaged goods' forever.
The consequences were real and lasting—broken family, hurt children, shattered trust. It feels arrogant to expect blessing after causing such destruction, and religious voices confirm you should be grateful just to be forgiven.
Five failed marriages and currently living with a man who wasn't her husband—yet Jesus chose HER to be the first evangelist to the Samaritans. She ran to town and brought the whole city to Jesus. From serial adultery to citywide revival in one afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm disqualified from blessing because of past sexual sin. IT IS WRITTEN that Rahab the prostitute is in the genealogy of Jesus Himself—not hidden, but HONORED. God doesn't just forgive; He RESTORES and ELEVATES. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:25 that He will restore the years the locusts have eaten. My past does not determine my future; His blood does. I am not damaged goods; I am a trophy of grace. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine by covenant, not by behavior—it protected Abraham when he LIED, Jacob when he DECEIVED, Judah when he slept with his daughter-in-law. How much MORE does it cover me under the better covenant of Jesus' blood?
The Father isn't keeping a record of your failures or maintaining a lower tier of blessing for 'those people.' He's the God who puts prostitutes in the Messianic line and makes evangelists out of adulterers—not despite their past but as a testimony of His outrageous grace.
