"I've thought things so dark God couldn't possibly accept me now."
How it sounds in your head: The stuff that goes through my head when I'm alone... thoughts about hurting people, sexual fantasies, rage toward my parents, suicide ideation. God can see all of it, and there's no way He doesn't hate me for what's in my mind. Other people don't think like this.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Religious teaching that thoughtlife determines worthiness rather than understanding intrusive thoughts as spiritual attack.
His thought life feels like evidence of his true nature, and the darkness of some thoughts seems incompatible with being loved by a holy God. The intensity and frequency make him feel uniquely corrupted.
Jonah was so angry at God's mercy that he literally asked God to KILL HIM because God forgave Nineveh. He wished death on an entire city and rage-quit his ministry. God's response wasn't rejection but patient dialogue and continued relationship - He didn't cast him out for toxic thinking.
I REFUSE the lie that my dark thoughts disqualify me from God's love. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:38-39 that NOTHING can separate me from the love of God - not height, not depth, not things present, not things to come, not ANYTHING. My mind is a battlefield where the enemy plants suggestions, but those suggestions are not my identity. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that I cast down imaginations and take thoughts CAPTIVE - which means thoughts come from OUTSIDE, not just from me. I am righteous IN CHRIST regardless of mental warfare. The BARAK blessing isn't voided by internal struggle - Jacob thought murderous thoughts toward Esau, Moses murdered a man, David planned adultery before acting on it, and the covenant HELD. My Father knows the battle and fights FOR me, not against me.
Your Father doesn't recoil at your thought life - He enters the battlefield WITH you, distinguishing between enemy suggestions and your true heart. He sees you through Christ's righteousness, not through the thoughts you're actively resisting.
