"I lost my authority when I failed, so now I have to earn it back."
How it sounds in your head: I was doing well spiritually—praying, resisting temptation, feeling strong. Then I crashed. I gave in to the same sin I said I'd never do again. I had authority, but I threw it away. Now I'm back at square one, trying to climb back up.
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."
-- Romans 11:29Source: Religion teaching that spiritual authority fluctuates based on performance rather than resting on unchanging covenant position.
The pattern feels obvious: when he's 'doing well,' he feels strong and spiritually empowered. When he fails, he feels powerless and defeated. The math seems simple—authority comes and goes based on obedience.
Samson broke every vow, slept with prostitutes, revealed God's secret, and lost his strength. In his final moment—blind, enslaved, humiliated—he prayed once more. God answered IMMEDIATELY and gave him strength to kill more enemies in his death than in his entire life. One prayer after massive failure released supernatural power instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that my failure revoked my authority. IT IS WRITTEN that the gifts and calling of God are IRREVOCABLE—they CAN'T be taken back. My authority is based on JESUS' finished work, not my fluctuating performance. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. I didn't earn authority by being good, so I can't lose it by being bad. I stand in the BARAK blessing—the same blessing that covered Abraham when he LIED and Jacob when he DECEIVED covers me today, and I'm in a BETTER covenant. I am righteous RIGHT NOW by the blood of Jesus. I walk in FULL authority TODAY, in this moment, with no delay.
The Father didn't make the prodigal son work his way back into sonship—He RAN to him while he still smelled like pigs and restored his authority IMMEDIATELY. Your worst failure doesn't change your position in Christ; it reveals how secure your position truly is.
