"I have to fix my relationship with my child before God will move in their life."

How it sounds in your head: We haven't really talked in months—surface texts, awkward calls, unresolved tension from that fight. I feel like my unforgiveness or our broken relationship is blocking God's blessing on them. I need to fix us before God will fix them.

Romans 5:8

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

-- Romans 5:8
Enemy whispers: Fix your relationship first, resolve the conflict, clear the unforgiveness—then God will move in their life. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Romans 5:8—'While we were STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us.' Not after we fixed our relationships, not after we got it right—WHILE STILL SINNERS. God's movement toward your child is not on hold waiting for you to repair your relationship. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:4-5 that God made us alive WHILE WE WERE DEAD in trespasses—He doesn't wait for us to get it together. He's moving in your child's life right now regardless of your unresolved tension.
Quick Truth: LIE: Fix the relationship first. TRUTH: While STILL sinners Christ died—God doesn't wait for relational perfection (Rom 5:8)

Religious performance teaching that makes God's movement toward your child dependent on YOUR relational perfection, putting you in the mediator role that belongs to Jesus alone.

Why this feels true:

Pastors preach 'unforgiveness blocks blessing' and you can feel the relational distance. It seems logical that God won't move in their life until you've cleared the relational debt between you.

Mark 2:1-12
Paralyzed man

Four friends brought a paralyzed man to Jesus—the text never says the paralyzed man had faith or asked to come or even wanted healing. His friends' faith was enough. Jesus saw THEIR faith and healed HIM—the man's healing didn't depend on his own faith or his relationship with his friends being perfect.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I have to fix our relationship before God moves in my child's life. IT IS WRITTEN that while we were STILL SINNERS—still broken, still distant, still unreconciled—Christ died for us. God doesn't wait for perfect relationships to move. IT IS WRITTEN that He made us alive while we were DEAD in sin. The paralyzed man was healed because of his friends' faith, not his own perfection. My child's breakthrough is not on hold waiting for me to resolve our tension—God is moving in their life right now, independent of our relational distance. The BARAK blessing covers them regardless of our unresolved conflict. I am not the mediator—Jesus is, and He's already bridging every gap.

But God actually:

The Father isn't waiting for you to have the perfect reconciliation conversation before He moves in your child's life—He's too busy pursuing your child right now to wait for you to get it perfect. Your unresolved tension doesn't pause His relentless love, and He's orchestrating breakthrough in your child's life AND healing in your relationship simultaneously.
