"I failed as a father and that's why he's walking away."
How it sounds in your head: I worked too much. I didn't pray with him enough. I should have seen the warning signs earlier. Other dads seem to have it figured out—their sons are still engaged. This is on me.
"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."
-- Ezekiel 18:20Religious performance system making salvation dependent on parental perfection rather than Christ's finished work.
You can replay every moment you were impatient, distracted, or absent. You see other families at church whose kids seem fine and assume they did something right that you missed.
Eli was the HIGH PRIEST, raised his sons in the temple itself, yet they became corrupt and blasphemous. God held them accountable for their OWN choices—proving even godly parents can have wayward children without it being the parent's fault.
I REFUSE the lie that my parenting performance determines my son's destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that each person bears their own choices, not their father's guilt. I am covered by the blood of Christ—there is NO CONDEMNATION in Christ Jesus. My son is under the BARAK blessing, sealed by covenant not behavior. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 54:13 that all my children shall be taught by the LORD and great shall be their peace. I declare that promise over him NOW. God finishes what He starts.
The Father doesn't measure your parenting—He measures Christ's perfection credited to you AND your son. The covenant covers what you couldn't.
