"I have to fix everything they broke in me before I can move forward."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone talks about 'healing your childhood' and 'doing the work.' I look at other guys who had normal families and think I've got years of therapy ahead before I can be normal. Like I'm permanently behind.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Religion disguised as psychology—making you earn wholeness through process instead of receiving it as gift.
Therapists, books, and well-meaning people keep talking about 'the journey of healing' and stages of recovery. You've got real issues from real dysfunction, so the idea of instant wholeness sounds naive.
Five failed marriages, living with a man, entire town knew her shame. One conversation with Jesus—no counseling, no recovery program—and she became an evangelist that same afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that I must fix what my parents broke before I can move forward. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a new creation in Christ—old things have ALREADY passed away, all things have ALREADY become new. Not 'becoming' new through process but NEW RIGHT NOW. Their dysfunction has zero power over my present identity. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I was healed—past tense, finished work. The BARAK blessing doesn't wait for me to 'work through' anything—it's mine NOW as Abraham's seed. I am whole, complete, and fully functional this moment because I'm in the Vine.
Father isn't waiting for you to 'heal' before He celebrates you as whole. He's looking at you right now seeing ZERO brokenness, only His perfect son, completely restored by Jesus' finished work.
