"I have to be the man of the house now because Dad left"
How it sounds in your head: Mom needs me to step up. I can't be a kid anymore—I have to protect her, help with money, be strong. If I don't hold it together, everything will fall apart. I can't show weakness or need help.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
-- Matthew 11:28-30World/Trauma - false identity as provider before time, weight of adult responsibility on child shoulders
His mom may actually be leaning on him emotionally or practically. The responsibility feels noble and proves his value, but it's crushing him under pressure he wasn't designed to carry yet.
David's older brothers told him to go back to the sheep, quit trying to be a man, stay in his lane. But David didn't BECOME strong enough to fight Goliath—God made him INSTANTLY victorious while still a teenager with just a sling, no armor, no training.
I REFUSE the lie that I must carry adult burdens alone! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives me REST and His burden is LIGHT! I am a SON, not a solo provider—my job is to be a KID and let God be Jehovah Jireh. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord fights FOR me, provides FOR me, protects my family. The BARAK blessing covers my household—we are blessed, protected, provided for by COVENANT, not my strength. I rest in HIS strength, not my own!
God isn't waiting for you to grow up faster or carry more weight—He's inviting you to put down the crushing burden and just be His son. The Father is already providing for your family; you get to rest and be a kid.
