"My parents are dead so there's no point in dealing with this now—I should just let it go."
How it sounds in your head: They're gone. What's the point of dredging up the past? I'm 75 years old. How much life do I have left? Why waste whatever time remains on old wounds? Better to just accept it and move on. You can't change what's done.
"To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
-- Isaiah 61:3Enemy using pragmatism and age to convince him healing isn't worth pursuing, that death closed the door on freedom.
At 75, every doctor visit reminds him time is limited. Dealing with old pain feels like spending his remaining years in the past instead of enjoying the present. Avoidance feels like wisdom, like 'letting it go.'
At 85 years old, said 'Give me THIS MOUNTAIN'—claimed his inheritance, fought giants, took territory when everyone expected him to retire. Age didn't disqualify him from receiving what was PROMISED—he got his breakthrough at 85.
I REFUSE the lie that healing isn't worth pursuing at 75. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives beauty for ashes with no age restriction. I am not too old for breakthrough. I am not wasting my remaining years by pursuing freedom—I am MAXIMIZING them. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 92:14 that the righteous 'shall still bear fruit in old age, they shall be fresh and flourishing.' The BARAK blessing operates in my 70s as powerfully as in my 20s. Abraham received Isaac at 100. Moses led the exodus at 80. My age is not my limitation—it's my testimony that God's power is TIMELESS. I claim my mountain. I take back every year the enemy stole. I refuse to die with ashes when beauty is available RIGHT NOW. These are not my last years of pain—these are my FIRST years of freedom.
The Father is running toward you with the robe and ring, and He doesn't care that you're 75. The prodigal could have been gone for DECADES—the father's response would be identical. You're not too late. You're right on time for the party.
