"I need to forgive them before I can be free, but I'm not ready yet."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone says 'you need to forgive to move forward,' but I'm still angry. I'm not ready to let them off the hook. So I guess I'm stuck here until I can work up enough grace, which feels impossible.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religion making freedom conditional on your performance, as if Jesus' finished work needs your forgiveness to activate it.
Every Christian self-help book says forgiveness is the key to freedom. The anger is still real, so the idea that you can be free while still processing it sounds like bypassing the work.
Never forgave anyone, never made amends, never 'worked through' his past. Just believed Jesus in his final breath. Instant paradise—zero process required, zero forgiveness checklist.
I REFUSE the lie that I must forgive my parents before I can be free. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ has ALREADY made me alive, ALREADY forgiven all trespasses, ALREADY removed every requirement. My freedom is not conditional on my emotional readiness. I am free RIGHT NOW because Jesus finished the work. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not 'no condemnation once you forgive.' NO condemnation PERIOD. The BARAK blessing flows now, not after I meet emotional milestones. I receive freedom as a gift, and forgiveness will flow naturally from that freedom.
Father isn't waiting for you to 'be ready' to forgive before He releases you into freedom. He's already cut every chain, celebrating your liberation right now, knowing forgiveness will bloom naturally as you experience His complete acceptance.
