"My parents' dysfunction is why my own marriage and parenting failed—I never had a model."
How it sounds in your head: How was I supposed to know how to love a wife when I never saw it? How could I father well when I had no father? I didn't have the tools. I didn't have the example. My failures were inevitable given where I came from.
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
-- John 14:26Victim mentality keeping him imprisoned in past, denying the power of Holy Spirit to teach what parents didn't.
The correlation seems undeniable—dysfunction breeds dysfunction. His divorce, his estranged kids, his relational wreckage—it all traces back to his origin story. The statistics about children of dysfunction support the narrative.
Father Amon was evil, grandfather Manasseh sacrificed children to demons—worst possible family legacy. At age 8, Josiah became king and 'did right in the sight of the Lord'—broke every generational pattern with NO godly model because God Himself taught him.
I REFUSE the lie that my parents' dysfunction predetermined my failure. IT IS WRITTEN that the Holy Spirit teaches me ALL THINGS—He is my model, my teacher, my Father. I am not limited by what I didn't see. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 2:27 that His anointing teaches me all things. The BARAK blessing breaks every generational limitation—Abraham's seed are blessed regardless of origin. I didn't need perfect parents because I have a perfect Father. Every marriage tool I needed, He provided. Every parenting wisdom I lacked, He supplied. I am not defined by my failures OR my family of origin. I am defined by the WORD made flesh who dwells in me. The Spirit of the living God has been my teacher all along—I'm just now recognizing it.
The Father has been teaching you all along—every moment you chose differently than your parents, that was HIM. Every time you broke the pattern, that was HIS SPIRIT. He's not disappointed in your learning curve—He's celebrating every step you took without a map.
