"I have to be 'healed' emotionally before God can use me or bless my relationships."
How it sounds in your head: I know I have wounds from my childhood, my past relationships. I'm working on it—therapy, prayer, reading books. But until I'm whole, how can I expect God to bless a relationship or use me in ministry? I need to finish healing first.
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."
-- 2 Corinthians 4:7Source: religious/therapeutic culture teaching that you must be emotionally whole before you're qualified for blessing or ministry.
She's seen her wounds sabotage relationships. She's been told 'hurt people hurt people,' so she assumes her unhealed places disqualify her from receiving or giving love. She feels like a work-in-progress, not ready for the next thing.
She'd been married five times, was living with a man she wasn't married to, was so ashamed she drew water at NOON to avoid people. Jesus had ONE conversation with her, and she IMMEDIATELY ran to tell the town—unhealed, unwhole, still carrying her shame—and the whole city came to Jesus because of her TESTIMONY. From emotionally wrecked to EVANGELIST in one afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that I must be emotionally whole before God can use or bless me. IT IS WRITTEN that we carry treasure in EARTHEN VESSELS—cracked, broken, imperfect pots—so the power is obviously FROM GOD, not from me. I don't have to FINISH healing to START living in blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in weakness, which means my unhealed places are the EXACT PLACE His power shows up. I am not a work-in-progress waiting for approval; I am APPROVED and healing as I walk in blessing. The BARAK doesn't wait for wholeness; it operates in BROKENNESS.
The Father isn't waiting for you to complete therapy before He blesses you. He's not standing at the finish line of your healing journey with the good stuff. He's meeting you IN your brokenness, holding you IN your unwhole places, using you WITH your wounds still fresh. The prodigal came home UNHEALED from his trauma, still emotionally wrecked, still smelling like failure—and the Father threw a PARTY, not a recovery program.
