"If I were really devoted, I'd have more spiritual fruit by now."
How it sounds in your head: You've been a Christian for decades. Other women lead Bible studies, disciple younger women, have prayer ministries. You're still struggling with the same issues. What's wrong with you? You should be producing more by now.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5Religion teaches productivity metrics for spirituality, importing corporate performance reviews into the Kingdom.
After 30+ years of faith, you expected to be 'further along' by now. The measuring stick of visible ministry output makes your behind-the-scenes faithfulness feel insufficient.
Simeon waited his ENTIRE LIFE for one moment—to see the Messiah. No recorded ministry, no disciples, no visible fruit for decades. Then the Holy Spirit brought Jesus to him, and his entire life's purpose was fulfilled in one encounter that took minutes.
I REFUSE the lie that my fruit production determines my value to the Father. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the branch and He is the vine, and abiding—not striving—produces fruit. I am not behind schedule or underperforming. IT IS WRITTEN that apart from Him I can do nothing, but IN HIM fruit comes automatically. I receive the BARAK blessing of Abraham—favor that isn't earned by productivity but given by covenant. I am a beloved branch, connected to an unstoppable Vine.
The Father isn't standing with a clipboard counting your fruit. He's the Vinedresser tenderly caring for His branch, and the fruit that matters is already growing—love, patience, faithfulness in unseen places. He sees the fruit religion overlooks.
