"I forfeited God's provision when I divorced. Financial struggle is my consequence."
How it sounds in your head: I'm living on a fixed income, choosing between medications. Maybe if I'd stayed married, I wouldn't be in this tiny apartment counting pennies. I broke covenant, so God withdrew blessing.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Enemy twisting Malachi 3:10 and prosperity teaching to make blessing conditional on perfect obedience.
She sees the financial difference—went from two incomes to one social security check. Divorce cost money. She feels like she's reaping what she sowed, and God's hand of provision lifted.
Husband dead, down to last meal, preparing to die with her son—widow in drought famine. Elijah showed up, she gave from lack, and her oil and flour never ran out through three years of famine. Instant, sustained, supernatural provision in the midst of national economic collapse.
I REFUSE the lie that divorce forfeited provision. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ redeemed me from the curse, and the blessing of Abraham is mine by covenant, not behavior. The barak protected liars and deceivers—I am covered! IT IS WRITTEN: God supplies ALL my needs according to HIS riches in glory. The widow's oil never ran out. I am a branch connected to the Vine, and provision flows automatically from Jesus. I am blessed coming in and going out, and no divorce can cancel covenant.
The Father isn't withholding provision as punishment—He's the God who multiplied oil for a widow down to her last meal. Your covenant isn't with your ex-husband; it's with the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
