"I don't have enough energy to be a good friend, daughter, or student anymore."
How it sounds in your head: I'm letting everyone down because I'm too tired to show up the way I used to. My friends are disappointed. My parents are frustrated. My teachers think I'm lazy. I'm failing everyone because I just can't keep up.
"The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Performance lie that her worth is measured by her output and energy level rather than her identity as beloved daughter.
She's watching relationships strain as she cancels plans, falls behind in school, and withdraws from activities. People's disappointment feels like confirmation that she's failing them, and exhaustion feels like proof she's not enough.
Martha was BUSY serving everyone, doing ALL the work, exhausted and resentful. Mary sat at Jesus' feet doing 'nothing productive.' Jesus defended MARY, saying she chose the 'good part'—connection over production, being over doing. Rest wasn't laziness; it was WISDOM.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth is measured by my energy or output. IT IS WRITTEN: 'The Lord your God will rejoice over you with singing.' He's not disappointed in me. He's SINGING over me. I am NOT defined by what I produce. I am a BRANCH connected to the VINE—fruit comes from CONNECTION, not exhaustion. Jesus defended Mary for RESTING while Martha exhausted herself serving. IT IS WRITTEN: 'Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.' Rest isn't failure. It's WISDOM. I am the beloved daughter of the King, and my worth is UNCHANGING regardless of my energy level.
The Father isn't keeping a disappointed tally of everything you couldn't do today. He's running toward you with the same defense Jesus gave Mary—celebrating your BEING over your DOING, singing over you in your rest, loving you wildly with no productivity required.
