"My fatigue proves I'm not walking closely enough with God right now."
How it sounds in your head: Spiritual people are supposed to be joyful and energized. Your exhaustion is a spiritual problem. If you prayed more, read more, worshiped more, you'd have energy.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2Source: religion teaching that physical vitality is a meter measuring your spiritual intimacy—closer to God equals more energy.
You've heard testimonies of people 'on fire for God' who seem tireless. When you're exhausted, it feels like proof you've drifted spiritually and God has withdrawn.
Jonah was running FROM God, in active rebellion, and he slept so deeply during a life-threatening storm that sailors had to wake him. Even in disobedience, God gave His beloved sleep—proximity to God isn't measured by wakefulness.
I REFUSE the lie that my exhaustion is a spiritual report card. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives His beloved sleep—I am the beloved, fatigue or no fatigue. Jesus slept in storms. Jonah slept in rebellion. Elijah slept in depression. Sleep and rest are GIFTS, not rewards for the spiritually advanced. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—that includes no condemnation for being tired. I am in Christ, fully loved, fully accepted, fully energized by His Spirit regardless of how I feel. The Branch doesn't manufacture sap—it receives.
The Father sees you falling asleep during prayer, feeling like a failure. He's not disappointed—He's tucking you in like the beloved child you are, whispering 'Rest is not rebellion. I give My beloved sleep. Your worth isn't measured in wakefulness.'
