"I curse and can't stop, so I'm too corrupt for God to speak through."
How it sounds in your head: It just comes out, especially when I'm mad or trying to fit in. The Bible says 'out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks,' so my cursing must mean my heart is rotten. God can't use a mouth like mine to speak His truth.
"So the Lord said to him, 'Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.'"
-- Exodus 4:11-12Source: Religion that makes speech the test of spirituality, contradicting grace that uses stammering Moses and cursing Peter.
You hear yourself say words you hate, and it feels like proof of internal corruption. If your mouth is 'polluted,' it seems logical that God would choose someone with a 'clean' mouth instead.
Peter began to CURSE AND SWEAR, saying 'I do not know the Man!'—he cursed in the act of denying Jesus. Weeks later, Jesus made him the preacher at Pentecost (Acts 2), where the same mouth that cursed Jesus proclaimed the gospel and birthed the church.
I REFUSE the lie that my cursing disqualifies my mouth from God's purposes. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord MADE my mouth and will BE WITH my mouth to teach me what to say. Peter CURSED while denying Jesus, then preached at Pentecost and saw 3,000 saved. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and my mouth is being sanctified by His presence, not by my perfect speech. The Father doesn't need me to clean up my vocabulary before He uses me—He's using me RIGHT NOW, cursing history and all. I am a SPOKESMAN for God, not because my mouth is pure, but because His SPIRIT is in me. My words are being redeemed as I speak.
The Father isn't waiting for you to master your vocabulary—He's the One who MADE your mouth, and He's fully capable of speaking through it whenever He chooses. Peter's cursing mouth became the voice of Pentecost; your mouth is already in the process of speaking life.
