"I was abusive—God may forgive me but He'll never entrust me with influence over others."
How it sounds in your head: You used your size, your voice, your authority to intimidate and control. The fear in their eyes when you raged. That's not something you recover credibility from. You can exist in God's mercy but don't expect Him to put others under your influence ever again. You're quarantined from leadership forever.
"This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life."
-- 1 Timothy 1:15-16Source: Human wisdom that permanent disqualification from influence is the only just response to abuse, contradicting God's pattern of using transformed abusers mightily.
The memories of rage, the specific incidents, the damage he caused are vivid and shameful. It feels morally right that someone who abused authority should never be trusted with it again.
Moses MURDERED an Egyptian in rage, then spent 40 years running. God called him at 80 to lead millions—the GREATEST Old Testament deliverer. No therapy requirement. No anger management certification. Just 'I AM sending you.' His violent past became part of his TESTIMONY, not his disqualification.
I REFUSE the lie that abuse permanently disqualifies me. IT IS WRITTEN that Paul called himself CHIEF of sinners yet was made a PATTERN of God's mercy. Like Moses went from MURDERER to greatest deliverer, I am a NEW CREATION—not reformed, NEW. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION in Christ Jesus. My past abuse doesn't define my future influence. The blood makes me TRUSTWORTHY, the Spirit makes me SAFE, and the Father makes me USEFUL. I am ENTRUSTED with influence by His GRACE.
The Father isn't permanently revoking your influence—He's transforming you into a PATTERN of His mercy like Paul. Moses led millions AFTER murder. Your testimony of transformation IS your qualification, not your disqualification.
