"I'm too broken and need too much healing before God can use me effectively."

How it sounds in your head: I'm still in therapy. I'm still triggered. I still have bad days where I can barely function. How can God use someone who's this much of a mess? I need to get healthier first, heal more, be more whole. Ministry is for people who have it together, and I'm still fighting just to stay afloat. Maybe in a few years when I'm more healed.

2 Corinthians 12:9

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

-- 2 Corinthians 12:9
Enemy whispers: You're too broken to be used. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 12:9—'My strength is made PERFECT in weakness.' Not 'perfect after you heal from your weakness'—perfect IN it. Paul asked God to remove his thorn three times; God said NO, My grace is SUFFICIENT. Your brokenness is the exact qualification God wants. IT IS WRITTEN in John 9:3 about the man born blind: 'that the works of God should be REVEALED in him.' Your wound is your pulpit.
Quick Truth: LIE: Too broken to be used. TRUTH: God's strength is PERFECT in weakness. Your wound is your pulpit. 2 Cor 12:9

Source: Christian self-help culture that positions healing as a prerequisite to usefulness and creates a 'whole enough' standard before service.

Why this feels true:

You're genuinely struggling with mental health, trauma, or emotional wounds, and Christian culture's emphasis on 'wholeness' makes you feel like you need to graduate from your pain before you're qualified. The 'healthy boundaries' teaching suggests you can't give from an empty cup.

John 9:1-41
The man born blind

He was blind from birth—never 'whole,' always broken. The disciples asked whose sin caused it (whose fault is your brokenness?). Jesus said NEITHER—'that the works of God should be revealed in him.' Jesus used him IMMEDIATELY while he was still blind, and his testimony after healing brought confrontation with religious leaders that advanced the kingdom.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I'm too broken to be used. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in my weakness, not after I overcome my weakness. The man born blind was used by Jesus to reveal God's works THROUGH his brokenness. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose the weak things to shame the strong and the foolish things to shame the wise. My mess is my MESSAGE, my wound is my PULPIT, and my brokenness is the exact qualification God wants. The BARAK blessing doesn't wait for me to heal—it flows NOW because I'm in covenant.

But God actually:

The Father isn't waiting for you to get your act together—He's using your coming-apart to display His holding-together. He didn't heal the blind man BEFORE using him; He used him blind, then healed him, and your current brokenness is His current platform for displaying power.
