"I caused this damage through my own choices—I don't deserve healing."
How it sounds in your head: You chose to start, chose to continue, chose again and again despite knowing better. Now in your fifties with consequences surrounding you, you believe you forfeited the right to ask for healing. Self-inflicted wounds don't qualify for miracles—that's what religion taught you.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us."
-- Titus 3:5Religious performance doctrine that makes healing conditional on deserving it—denies the entire gospel of grace and makes Jesus' blood insufficient.
You remember every choice that led here, and shame says those choices disqualify you from receiving freely. You've heard 'you made your bed, now lie in it' from family or church, and it feels right that consequences should be permanent when you caused them yourself.
Deliberately ran from God's assignment, caused a storm that nearly killed innocent sailors, got thrown overboard as consequence of his own rebellion. God sent a fish to SAVE him, gave him a second chance IMMEDIATELY, and still used him for massive revival. Self-inflicted disaster—divine rescue anyway.
I REFUSE the lie that I forfeited healing through my choices. IT IS WRITTEN that it's NOT by works of righteousness I've done but according to HIS MERCY. I don't receive based on deserving—I receive based on COVENANT. The prodigal BLEW his inheritance on prostitutes and the Father still RAN toward him with a robe and ring. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus—not 'condemnation for self-inflicted problems' but NO condemnation. I stand in undeserved, scandalous, overwhelming GRACE.
The Father doesn't have a 'self-inflicted wounds' exemption clause. While you're rehearsing every wrong choice, He's running toward you with the BEST robe—not because you deserve it, but because that's WHO HE IS. His healing isn't a reward for good behavior—it's a gift from a good Father.
