"Healing only happened in the Bible to prove Jesus was God."
How it sounds in your head: I've been taught that miracles were just 'signs' to authenticate Jesus and the apostles—like a divine résumé. Now that the Bible is written and Christianity is established, we don't need signs anymore, so God stopped doing them. That means I shouldn't expect supernatural intervention in my actual life.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father."
-- John 14:12Source: Religion—cessationist teaching that limits God's power to a specific historical purpose, making miracles transactional instead of relational.
Your church history class taught that miracles 'confirmed the Word' but stopped when the canon closed, as if God's power had a specific job and then retired. No one around you expects miracles, so neither do you.
Eutychus fell asleep during Paul's long sermon, fell out of a third-story window, and died—people picked up his DEAD body. Paul went down, embraced him, and he came back to life—raised from the dead during a church service, not to 'prove' Paul was legit, but because LIFE is what believers carry.
I REFUSE the lie that miracles were only to prove Jesus was God and stopped when the Bible was finished. IT IS WRITTEN that whoever believes in Jesus will do the works He did and GREATER works—that's a present-tense promise, not a historical footnote. Miracles aren't God's old résumé; they're the NORMAL overflow of His presence in believers. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, under the BARAK blessing that protected and prospered even liars and deceivers—how much MORE does it empower me in the BETTER covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that these signs follow those who believe, and I BELIEVE. I carry resurrection power because the same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in me.
Your Father isn't done showing off His power just because the Bible is written—He wants to write YOUR testimony in real time. He's running toward you with the same miracle-working presence that filled the early church, not because He needs to prove Himself, but because He LOVES displaying His goodness in your generation.
