"Godly women shouldn't need hormone replacement or psychiatric medication—just more prayer."
How it sounds in your head: My grandmother's generation didn't have all these pills, and they survived. Maybe I'm just weak, ungrateful, not praying enough. There's something unnatural and worldly about treating my hormones or brain chemistry medically instead of spiritually.
"Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine."
-- Ezekiel 47:12Religion: Older generation judgment combined with toxic femininity that spiritualizes women's suffering as virtue rather than addressing medical needs.
She's comparing her medicated life to idealized memories of previous generations who 'just trusted God,' not realizing they suffered silently. The church emphasis on prayer as sole solution makes medical intervention feel like spiritual deficiency.
She spent twelve years seeing physicians and trying every medical treatment available, spending all her money. Jesus didn't rebuke her for seeking medical help first—He healed her when medicine failed. Her pursuit of doctors wasn't condemned; her faith was PRAISED.
I REFUSE the lie that godly women suffer without medical help. IT IS WRITTEN that God designed medicine as part of His kingdom, and IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus praised the woman who spent years seeking physicians. I am a daughter of Abraham, blessed with ACCESS to medical advancement as part of the BARAK provision. My hormones are not spiritual issues requiring only prayer—they're biological realities God designed treatment for. I receive medication as wisdom, not weakness. I am fully feminine, fully faithful, and fully medicated. Prayer AND prescription are both gifts from my Father's hand.
Your Father isn't comparing you to your grandmother. He's looking at YOU, in your specific body, in your specific time, with medical options your grandmother never had, and He's saying, 'I gave brilliant minds the ability to create this medication for you. Take it with my blessing.'
