"Depending on doctors and medication means I'm not living by faith like I should."
How it sounds in your head: Faith healers talk about trusting God alone, making my doctor appointments feel like hedging my bets. Every prescription refill reminds me I'm not one of those strong faith people who just believes and receives. I'm living in practical unbelief disguised as wisdom.
"And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians."
-- 2 Chronicles 16:12Religious teaching creating false dichotomy between medical care and faith, making them competitors instead of partners.
Testimonies of people who 'just trusted God' and were healed make medical management feel like faithless plan B. Her regular doctor visits and prescriptions seem like tangible evidence she doesn't have mountain-moving faith.
Paul traveled with Luke 'the beloved physician' throughout his ministry, never suggesting Luke should stop practicing medicine to be more spiritual. God used both Paul's healing gift and Luke's medical knowledge - they weren't competing but complementing.
I REFUSE the lie that medical care and faith are enemies. IT IS WRITTEN that the problem is seeking doctors INSTEAD OF God, not alongside Him. My Father gave humans knowledge of medicine as His provision, not as competition with faith. I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing that includes health through every means He provides. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Chronicles 16:12 that the issue was ONLY physicians without God, not physicians plus God. I can believe my Father is Jehovah Rapha AND gratefully see doctors - both are expressions of His care for my body.
Your Father is not standing at a distance waiting for you to prove your faith by refusing medical care. He RAN toward you with both supernatural healing and skilled physicians, saying 'I love you enough to provide through every avenue - receive it all as My goodness.'
