"God uses sickness to teach lessons and build character in believers."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this health issue is God's will to humble me or teach me patience. He might be using this to get my attention or correct something in my life. I shouldn't resist what He's trying to do.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religious fatalism that attributes Satan's work to God, making Him the author of sickness.
You've heard 'God won't waste your suffering' and 'trials produce perseverance' your whole Christian life. When sickness comes, assigning it divine purpose feels more spiritual than resisting it. Accepting it seems like submission to God's will.
Satan (not God) afflicted Job with sickness and loss. God's response wasn't 'learn your lesson'—it was complete restoration of health and DOUBLE everything he lost. God's end game is always blessing, not teaching through torment.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors sickness to build my character. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL oppressed by the devil—sickness is from the enemy, not my Father. God is not schizophrenic, blessing me in heaven while cursing me on earth. The BARAK blessing means I'm protected like Abraham, even when I mess up. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father—sickness is neither good nor perfect. I resist this sickness like Jesus did, knowing my Father's will is health, not disease.
Your Father isn't making you sick to improve you—He sent Jesus to destroy the works of the devil, including disease. Like the prodigal's father brought health and celebration, not punishment and lessons, your Father brings healing, not sickness.
