"God must be angry that I didn't give Him more of my life when I was younger."
How it sounds in your head: I gave Him the leftovers—worked my career, built my life, pursued my goals, and fit God in around the edges. Now at the end, I wish I'd given Him more, and He must be angry that I waited so long to make Him the priority. Too little, too late.
"But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'"
-- Matthew 20:13-15Source: Enemy accusation leveraging legitimate regret to reframe God as scorekeeper rather than gracious Father, amplified by religious teaching about whole-life consecration.
You genuinely wish you'd prioritized differently when you were younger, and that regret feels like evidence that God must share your disappointment and frustration about the decades you gave to other pursuits.
Gave Jesus literally his LAST MOMENTS—nothing more to give because he was dying. No years of service, no ministry, no consecration, just 'Remember me.' Jesus gave him FULL PARADISE—'TODAY you will be with Me'—proving God's reward isn't proportional to years served but based on GRACE.
I REFUSE the lie that God is angry I didn't give Him more when I was younger. IT IS WRITTEN that God pays the eleventh-hour workers the SAME as the all-day workers because He is GOOD, not because we've earned it. My Father doesn't punish me for poor timing or late surrender—He CELEBRATES every moment I turn toward Him. I am not 'too little, too late'—I am RIGHT ON TIME in His generous, gracious plan. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. The BARAK blessing covers my entire timeline—wasted years, wrong priorities, late obedience. God isn't counting what I didn't give—He's rejoicing over what I'm giving NOW.
Your Father isn't angry about the years you spent elsewhere. He's throwing a PARTY that you're HERE NOW. Like the prodigal's father who didn't lecture about wasted years but threw a celebration, your Father is rejoicing over THIS MOMENT with you, not brooding over lost decades.
