"God expected me to have my anger under control by now—I keep exploding."
How it sounds in your head: I lose my temper so quickly, especially at my siblings or when I'm playing games online. I know God wants me to be patient and self-controlled, but I keep failing. He must be so disappointed in my rage.
"As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust."
-- Psalm 103:13-14Religious teaching that God's acceptance requires emotional mastery, making love conditional on self-control performance instead of recognizing development stage and Christ's imputed patience.
Fruit of the Spirit includes 'self-control,' and you clearly don't have it. Adults constantly lecture about anger management, so every outburst feels like spiritual failure that must disappoint God who expects better.
Murdered a man in RAGE, hid the body, fled to desert in fear. Later in ministry STRUCK the rock in ANGER instead of speaking to it, disobeying God's direct command because he was furious at the people. God still called him the most humble man on earth, appeared to him face-to-face, and took him to heaven personally—anger issues included.
I REFUSE the lie that God is disappointed in my anger. IT IS WRITTEN: As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on me, for He KNOWS my frame—He knows I'm 13 with surging testosterone, developing brain, and emotions I'm still learning to navigate. My emotional control doesn't determine His love because my standing is based on CHRIST's perfect patience, not mine. IT IS WRITTEN: The fruit of the Spirit comes from ABIDING, not striving. Moses MURDERED in rage and STRUCK the rock in anger, yet God called him humble and took him to heaven. The BARAK covered Jacob's RAGE-fueled deception and his sons' MURDEROUS anger in Shechem—yet God protected them. I'm in BETTER covenant with BETTER blood. My Father isn't keeping an anger scorecard. He's PATIENT with my patience-learning process.
Your Father knows your prefrontal cortex is still developing and emotional regulation is genuinely harder right now. He's not disappointed in your explosions—He's the patient parent who remembers what dust you're made of and loves you completely in the middle of your development.
