"God is angry that I never became the spiritual leader my family needed."
How it sounds in your head: I failed as a man. I provided financially but I didn't lead spiritually. My kids don't all walk with God and that's on me. I let everyone down—my wife had to be the spiritual one. God expected me to be the priest of my home and I abdicated.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Source: Religion placed Old Covenant priesthood requirements on men, making them earn acceptance through family spiritual outcomes.
He sees adult children who aren't serving God and believes it's proof of his failure. The cultural mandate that 'real men' lead spiritually makes his perceived weakness feel like ultimate masculine failure as life ends.
Eli was a priest whose sons were wicked and blasphemed God, and he failed to restrain them—yet God still used him to raise Samuel who became the greatest prophet of that generation. Even in judgment, God's purposes prevailed beyond Eli's parenting failures.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth as a man is measured by my family's spiritual outcomes. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL the requirements against me were nailed to the cross—including the requirement to be a perfect spiritual leader. My children's choices are between them and God. I am not their savior—JESUS IS. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, not because I led family devotions but because I am IN CHRIST. My Father is not angry—He sees me covered in the blood of the Lamb. The BARAK blessing over my household was never earned by my leadership—it flows from COVENANT. I am accepted, I am loved, I am His beloved son.
Your Father doesn't see a failed leader—He sees a son bought with precious blood. He's not angry about what you didn't do; He's rejoicing over what Jesus DID do, and that covers you completely.
