"God is using this sickness to teach me something, so I shouldn't resist it."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor said God allows trials to build character and make us more like Jesus. Maybe I'm supposed to be grateful for this sickness because it's God's classroom. If I pray for healing, am I resisting His lesson? Maybe I'm supposed to just accept it and learn whatever He's trying to teach me.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religious distortion making God the author of sickness and believers passive victims instead of overcoming warriors.
She's heard Romans 8:28 twisted to mean God orchestrates bad things as teaching tools, making resistance to sickness seem like resistance to God's plan.
She'd been crippled eighteen years, and Jesus said SATAN had bound her. When the religious leader criticized healing on the Sabbath, Jesus called him a hypocrite and said 'ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, be loosed from this bond?' He was INDIGNANT that religion would delay her freedom even one more day. He didn't say 'wait, she's not done learning yet.' He set her FREE immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that God is using sickness to teach me! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the DEVIL because sickness is the devil's oppression, not my Father's curriculum. Jesus is the exact representation of God, and He never made anyone sick. He came to give ABUNDANT LIFE, and sickness is not abundant. I am a daughter of Abraham, and Jesus said daughters of Abraham OUGHT to be loosed from bondage. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed in my body, blessed coming in and going out. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I was healed. I resist sickness the same way Jesus did—with authority and the Word. I am not a passive victim; I am a warrior.
Your Father isn't the twisted teacher who breaks His kids' legs to teach them about crutches. He's the Dad who RUNS to you with healing, the same Jesus who was moved with COMPASSION and healed immediately. He's not waiting for you to learn something first; He's already prepared your breakthrough.
