"I've already lived a long life, so it's greedy to ask for more years or health."
How it sounds in your head: I'm 87. I've had more time than most people get. Asking for healing or more years feels greedy when so many die young. Maybe I should be grateful for what I've had and not push for more. Wanting health feels selfish at my age.
"With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."
-- Psalm 91:16World system + religion teaching God rations years and viewing His abundance as selfishness; scarcity theology.
Cultural messaging that the elderly should 'make room' for the next generation and not be 'greedy' for resources. She's internalized the lie that desiring more life at her age is asking too much, especially when others have less.
Moses was 120 years old when he died. The Bible specifically says 'his eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.' At 120! Not just alive, but STRONG, CLEAR-EYED, VIGOROUS. God didn't give him 'enough to get by'—He gave him ABUNDANCE of days and health right to the end.
I REFUSE the lie that desiring more life and health is greed. IT IS WRITTEN that with LONG life He SATISFIES me—and He hasn't said I'm satisfied yet. Moses lived to 120 with full strength and clear vision; Abraham to 175. The barak blessing that was on their lives is on MINE through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 92:14 that I shall bear fruit in old age and be FRESH and FLOURISHING. My Father delights in giving me abundant life—it's not greed, it's His DESIGN. I receive every year, every breath, every moment of health as GIFT, not theft from someone else. I live long and declare the works of the Lord with boldness. I am covenant daughter, not societal burden.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes at your desire for more years. He's the one who PROMISED long life and satisfaction—He wrote it before you were born. Asking for health and time is partnering with HIS heart, not being greedy. He loves lavishing life on His kids.
