"Medical treatment means I'm not trusting God enough for healing."
How it sounds in your head: Some Christians say real faith means refusing treatment and trusting God alone. But I'm scared and the doctors want to start treatment. Does taking medicine mean I don't really believe? Will God not heal me if I accept medical help? Am I being faithless by seeing doctors? What's the right thing to do?
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religion creating FALSE CHOICE between wisdom and faith, medicine and miracles, as if God only works one way.
Testimonies of people refusing treatment and getting healed make medical help sound like lack of faith. Pressure from spiritual-sounding people creates guilt about 'natural' vs 'supernatural.' Your age makes you doubt your discernment. Fear of making the 'wrong' choice feels paralyzing. You want to honor God but also want to live.
King Hezekiah was sick to the point of death. God sent Isaiah to tell him 'you shall not die, but live' (a promise of healing). Then Isaiah said, 'Take a lump of FIGS and apply it to the boil, and he shall recover.' God promised SUPERNATURAL healing, then prescribed a NATURAL treatment (fig poultice). Hezekiah used the treatment AND believed God's word, and he lived 15 MORE YEARS. Medicine didn't contradict faith—they worked together.
I REFUSE the lie that using medical help means I don't trust God. IT IS WRITTEN: God supplies ALL my needs through His riches, and He uses MULTIPLE METHODS. Jesus Himself used mud as a treatment method when healing the blind man—combining natural means with supernatural power. IT IS WRITTEN: Hezekiah received both God's healing promise AND a prescribed treatment, and he LIVED. I can receive medical wisdom AND believe for miraculous healing because they're not opposites—they're BOTH from my Father's hand. I am blessed with WISDOM and blessed with HEALTH under the Abrahamic covenant. God can work THROUGH doctors and BEYOND doctors. I TRUST His supernatural power while USING the natural means He provides. My faith is in HIM, not in my treatment method.
Your Father isn't testing you with trick questions about medicine vs faith—He's providing for you through EVERY avenue available. Like the father gave the prodigal robe, ring, sandals, AND food—not making him choose one or prove his trust by refusing practical provision—God gives you BOTH medical wisdom AND healing power because He loves you and wants you WHOLE by whatever means.
