"God is using this pain to teach me patience and dependence, so asking for healing is resisting His purpose."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor said God allows suffering to build character. My Bible study leader said Paul's thorn teaches us to embrace weakness. Maybe I'm being selfish and immature by wanting relief instead of learning what God wants to teach through this.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religious teaching making God the author of suffering and reframing healing prayer as resistance to divine pedagogy.
Scripture mentions patience through trials, and pastoral teaching consistently frames suffering as God's classroom. Asking for healing feels like wanting to skip the lesson God enrolled you in.
Sick with high fever, people asked Jesus to help her. He didn't say 'God is teaching her patience.' He rebuked the fever IMMEDIATELY, it left her, and she got up and served them—instant healing with zero 'lesson' conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that God is using pain to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil. Oppression is from the devil, NOT from the Father. IT IS WRITTEN: Every good and perfect gift is from above—sickness is NOT a gift. God doesn't author suffering to build character. The BARAK blessing includes HEALTH. I receive IMMEDIATE healing, not because I've learned the lesson but because oppression is from the enemy and freedom is from God.
The Father isn't saying 'suffer longer and learn.' He's doing what Jesus did with Peter's mother-in-law: rebuking the sickness immediately, not because she earned it or learned patience, but because He's GOOD and sickness is from the enemy.
