"God allows this pain to prepare me for death and teach me patience."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this is God's way of loosening my grip on earth. The pastor said suffering builds character and prepares us for glory. I should accept this as His will—resistance might be rebellion.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religious teaching making God the author of pain, twisting Romans 5:3 into justification for suffering as divine curriculum.
Lifetime of sermons connecting suffering with spiritual growth creates false equation. Proximity to death makes any theological explanation for pain feel spiritually noble rather than questioning God's goodness.
She'd been bent double for 18 years, and religious leaders said 'wait until tomorrow to be healed.' Jesus called her forward IMMEDIATELY, laid hands on her, and she was made straight INSTANTLY—no preparation period, no 'learning through suffering.'
I REFUSE the lie that God authors pain to prepare me for anything. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus went about healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil—pain is oppression, not curriculum. My Father doesn't use the devil's tools to teach me. I am under the BARAK blessing where Christ bore my sicknesses at Calvary. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. Jesus destroyed the devil's works; He doesn't assign them as character development. I receive healing NOW as my covenant right, not someday as a reward.
The Father isn't using pain to 'prepare' you—Jesus already prepared a place for you, and He's preparing YOU by His presence, not by suffering. He's the Father who ran to the prodigal reeking of pig pens; He's running to you now with the robe of health, not the curriculum of chronic pain.
