"God is using my chronic pain to make me more compassionate toward others who suffer."
How it sounds in your head: I was never very empathetic—always pushed through, expected others to be strong like me. Maybe I needed to experience weakness to understand it. Perhaps this constant pain is God's way of softening my heart and making me useful to hurting people.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
-- John 15:5Religion teaches God authors suffering to produce character fruit instead of fruit coming from abiding in the Vine.
You genuinely ARE more understanding of others' pain now, and connecting that to purpose makes the suffering feel redemptive instead of pointless. You've seen fruit (compassion), so you assume the root (pain) must be from God.
Betrayed by brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned for years. When finally elevated, he had compassion on his brothers—but God didn't AUTHOR the evil to teach him. 'You meant evil against me, but God MEANT it for good.' God didn't cause it; He REDEEMED it.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father authors pain to manufacture compassion. IT IS WRITTEN that fruit comes from ABIDING in the Vine—connection produces fruit, not affliction. I am a branch attached to Jesus, and compassion flows FROM His heart through me, not FROM suffering inflicted on me. The BARAK blessing that covered Abraham covers me—blessing by COVENANT, not by curriculum. This pain is FROM the curse Jesus carried. IT IS WRITTEN that He heals ALL my diseases. I receive both HEALING and COMPASSION as gifts from the Vine.
Your Father isn't teaching you compassion through chronic pain—He's inviting you to abide so His compassion flows THROUGH you like sap through a branch. The prodigal's father had compassion WITHOUT first experiencing pig pens; compassion is His NATURE, now yours by connection.
