"God is punishing me for dishonoring my parents when I set boundaries."
How it sounds in your head: Ever since I stopped talking to my mom, things have been hard financially and relationally. Maybe this is consequences for not honoring her. Maybe God is withholding blessing because I 'broke relationship.'
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
-- Romans 8:1Source: Religious teaching that positions boundaries as sin and difficulties as God's punishment for self-protection.
Timing made it seem connected—you set a boundary and then life got hard. Religion taught you that 'honoring parents' is tied to blessing, so dishonor must bring cursing, right?
Jacob had to FLEE from his brother Esau (who wanted to kill him) and leave his parents' house after deceiving everyone. God didn't punish him for the family chaos—He met Jacob at Bethel and said 'I am WITH you, I will KEEP you, I will bring you BACK, and I will NOT LEAVE YOU' (Gen 28:15). Instant blessing during family estrangement.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me for setting boundaries with toxic parents. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for me in Christ—not reduced condemnation, ZERO. Christ redeemed me from the CURSE, and I live under the BARAK blessing that cannot be revoked by boundaries or self-protection. IT IS WRITTEN that God works ALL things together for GOOD for those who love Him. Difficulties are not punishment; they are the enemy's attack that God is turning for my GOOD. I declare that wisdom and boundaries are BLESSED, not cursed. I am favored, protected, and fully blessed RIGHT NOW.
The Father is not withholding from you because you protected yourself—He's PROUD of you for valuing yourself as much as He values you. He's not punishing; He's PROVIDING, and any difficulty you're facing is something He's already turning into breakthrough because you're His beloved daughter.
