"My parents' divorce is why I can't sustain a healthy marriage—I never saw one modeled."
How it sounds in your head: I don't know what normal looks like. I either cling too hard or run at the first conflict because I watched them destroy each other. I'm repeating their patterns and it's inevitable.
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
-- John 14:26Trauma determinism—enemy convincing you that what you witnessed determines your capacity instead of Holy Spirit being your teacher.
The patterns ARE there—you fight like your mom, withdraw like your dad, and you catch yourself doing the exact things you swore you'd never do. Statistics say children of divorce are more likely to divorce.
Moabite woman from a cursed nation (Moabites banned from God's assembly for ten generations), married into dysfunctional family where both sons died, widowed with nothing. God gave her Boaz, a thriving marriage, and she became great-grandmother of DAVID and ancestor of Jesus—no godly marriage model needed, just covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that my parents' divorce determines my marriage capacity. IT IS WRITTEN that the Holy Spirit teaches me ALL things—including how to love, communicate, and sustain covenant. I don't need their model because I have the BEST teacher living in me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the BARAK blessing—blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail. My marriage is built on COVENANT, not my parents' example, and Holy Spirit is giving me wisdom they never had.
Your Father is running toward your marriage with blueprints they never had—divine strategies, supernatural patience, and love that never fails. He's whispering to you in every conflict, teaching you in every moment, and your marriage is becoming the MODEL, not the repeat.
