"I need to wait for my parents to acknowledge the hurt they caused before I can heal."
How it sounds in your head: I've tried to talk to them about how they wounded me, and they deny, minimize, or blame me. I keep waiting for the apology, the acknowledgment, the accountability. Without it, I feel stuck—how can I move forward when they won't even admit what they did?
"To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified."
-- Isaiah 61:3Source: Therapeutic models that position acknowledgment and validation from the offender as prerequisites for healing, keeping you in a hostage situation.
Justice screams that they should own what they did. Without their acknowledgment, it feels like gaslighting—like maybe it wasn't as bad as you remember, or you're overreacting.
She'd been bleeding for 12 years and 'suffered many things from many physicians' who took her money and made her worse. None of them acknowledged their malpractice or apologized. She didn't wait for validation—she touched Jesus' garment and was INSTANTLY healed without a single doctor admitting fault. Her healing didn't require their acknowledgment.
I REFUSE the lie that I need my parents' acknowledgment or apology to be healed. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives beauty for ashes and joy for mourning—HE does it, not them. My healing is not held hostage by their denial. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus heals the brokenhearted and binds up wounds, and He doesn't need their cooperation. I am the planting of the Lord, a tree of righteousness, rooted in HIS truth, not their validation. The BARAK blessing makes me whole regardless of their admission. I declare I am HEALED, FREE, and fully alive RIGHT NOW—with or without their acknowledgment.
The Father doesn't say 'Once they finally admit what they did, I'll heal you.' He says 'I'm healing you RIGHT NOW, beloved, because My power doesn't depend on their humility. You're not waiting on them—you're receiving from ME, and I've already made you whole.'
