"Their divorce proves I can't trust anyone—I'll just end up alone."
How it sounds in your head: They promised forever and couldn't make it work. I watch them hate each other now and think, if they couldn't do it, what chance do I have? Every relationship feels like it's doomed before it starts.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Enemy using their failure to prophesy yours, as if their covenant breaking determines your covenant keeping.
You've literally watched love turn to hatred, promises broken, family destroyed. The statistics on children of divorce repeating the pattern feel like a death sentence hanging over your future.
God told him to marry a prostitute who would repeatedly cheat on him—the most dysfunctional marriage setup imaginable. Yet God used it to display His faithful love despite Israel's unfaithfulness. Dysfunction didn't disqualify destiny.
I REFUSE the lie that my parents' divorce has cursed my relational future. IT IS WRITTEN that God's thoughts toward me are for peace, hope, and a good future—not repetition of their pattern. Their covenant breaking has zero authority over my covenant keeping. I am not a statistic; I am a son of the Most High. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out—the BARAK blessing includes relational favor, wisdom, and supernatural ability to love well. Their failure is not my inheritance. God's faithfulness IS. I will experience lasting love because I'm rooted in the Vine.
Father is already celebrating the beautiful relationships in your future, completely unconcerned with your parents' track record. He's written a different story for you—one of faithfulness, joy, and covenant love that endures.
