"God is disappointed I'm not more like other Christian girls I see"
How it sounds in your head: That girl leads worship and volunteers and seems so on fire for God. I don't feel that way. I'm quieter, more in the background. God probably wishes I was more like her - more excited, more involved, more passionate.
"But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:18Source: Church culture that celebrates extroverted expressions of faith as 'more spiritual,' making introverts feel defective.
She sees visibility equated with spirituality and assumes God shares that preference. Her personality type feels like a spiritual handicap rather than a design.
While Martha was doing visible, impressive serving, Mary just sat quietly at Jesus' feet. When Martha complained, Jesus defended Mary's quiet presence as 'the better part' - the introvert chose relationship over performance and Jesus CELEBRATED it.
I REFUSE the lie that God wants me different! IT IS WRITTEN that He placed me in the body JUST AS HE WANTED! Mary sat quietly while Martha served loudly, and Jesus called Mary's choice 'the better part'! IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:14 - I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made! Not 'made wrong and needs fixing.' My quiet strength is BY DESIGN, not by default! I stand in the BARAK blessing - God chose JACOB the quiet tent-dweller over ESAU the loud hunter! Different expressions, SAME belovedness! The Father delights in the DIVERSITY of His children, not uniformity!
The Father who made both the thunder and the whisper isn't disappointed that you're not louder. He DESIGNED you exactly as you are - your pace, your processing, your way of loving Him - and He's not comparing you to anyone else because He doesn't make duplicates.
