"God expected me to be further along spiritually by now at my age"
How it sounds in your head: I've been a Christian for 40, 50 years. I should be so much wiser, stronger, more mature by now. I still struggle with basics. I still doubt. I still fail. After all these decades, God must think, 'What's wrong with this one?'
"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
-- 2 Corinthians 3:18Source: Religious maturity timelines that measure spiritual growth by age and tenure rather than identity in Christ
Decades of faith haven't produced the spiritual giant he imagined becoming, and younger believers sometimes seem more on fire. The enemy uses longevity as evidence of failure.
Abraham waited 24 YEARS for the promise, made massive mistakes (Hagar, lying twice), yet at 99 God appeared and said 'I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless'—instant declaration of blamelessness despite decades of stumbling.
I REFUSE the lie that God measures my maturity by age or tenure. IT IS WRITTEN that I am being transformed from glory to glory by the SPIRIT, not by my timeline. My Father doesn't compare me to a maturity chart; He declares me COMPLETE in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:10 that I am COMPLETE in Him—not becoming complete, but already COMPLETE. The BARAK blessing covered Abraham at 99 after decades of mistakes. I am not behind; I am BELOVED. God doesn't have expectations based on time; He has a COVENANT based on blood. I am exactly where He sees me—seated with Christ in heavenly places, FULLY MATURE in Him.
The Father doesn't look at you with a clipboard tracking spiritual progress. He looks at you through the blood of Jesus and sees COMPLETION, not process—PERFECTION, not performance.
