"God is allowing this illness to prepare me for heaven and loosen my grip on earthly life."
How it sounds in your head: You're in your sixties—heaven is closer than it used to be. Maybe God is using this sickness to make you long for eternity, to help you let go of this world. It's actually merciful—He's weaning you off earth so the transition won't be so hard.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Death-preparation theology that makes God the author of disease as heaven-readiness tool; sickness romanticized as spiritual maturity.
Friends are dying, funerals are frequent, and pastors talk about 'longing for heaven' as spiritual maturity. Sickness makes earth less appealing, which feels like God orchestrating homesickness for eternity.
Moses was 120 years old when he died. The text says 'his eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.' He didn't decline into sickness—he climbed a mountain, saw the Promised Land, and God took him in STRENGTH. Full life until the final moment, no disease-preparation process.
I REFUSE the lie that God uses sickness to prepare me for heaven. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT LIFE, not gradual death through disease. The thief steals, kills, destroys—sickness is the enemy's work, not the Father's preparation. IT IS WRITTEN that Moses died at 120 with eyes NOT DIM and vigor NOT diminished. I will live in HEALTH until I finish my course and cross over in fullness of days. I am Abraham's seed, blessed in coming in and going out, and the BARAK includes health until my last breath. I am the LIVING, the THRIVING, the ABUNDANT—every day is a gift of LIFE, not a rehearsal for death. Heaven is glorious, but TODAY I have resurrection life flowing in me.
The Father isn't using sickness to make heaven appealing—heaven is already prepared and glorious. He wants you HEALTHY and FULL OF LIFE until the moment you step into eternity. Right now He's running toward you with the same abundant life Jesus promised, saying 'I have GOOD plans for you—plans for LIFE, not disease.'
