"God allowed this cancer to get my attention and draw me closer to Him."
How it sounds in your head: I was distant, distracted, chasing career and success. Maybe this diagnosis is His megaphone, His way of getting me to finally prioritize Him. Crisis brings clarity - maybe that's the point.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Source: Religion - making God the author of evil who uses death to accomplish what His love couldn't.
You HAVE gotten more serious about faith since the diagnosis, and correlation feels like causation. It gives the nightmare a redemptive narrative instead of being random cruelty.
Disciples asked if his blindness was caused by his sin or his parents' sin - Jesus said NEITHER, rejecting the premise that God authors sickness. He immediately healed him with mud and spit, demonstrating God's will is always healing, not explanations for suffering.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father gave me cancer to get my attention. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to kill and destroy, but Jesus came to give abundant LIFE. Cancer is the thief's work, not my Father's megaphone. God draws me with kindness, not tumors. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. I am Abraham's seed, blessed coming in and going out, and the BARAK doesn't include cancer as a communication method. My body is healed by His stripes.
Your Father was never distant waiting for cancer to bridge the gap - He was always running toward you like the prodigal's father, and this disease isn't His invitation, it's the enemy's invasion. He's bringing healing AND closeness, not trading one for the other.
